Future Plans

For the Wendell Meetinghouse to realize its potential – as a special place for gatherings, performances, and celebrations – we need to finish the job!  Our goals for the final phase of the renovation are:

  • an architectural addition for bathrooms, a warming kitchen, storage and a green room for performers
  • a climate-friendly, four-season heating/cooling system
  • new roof shingles that will last for decades to come
  • a fresh coat of paint for the outside of the building, and
  • gracious landscaping for this special corner of the Town Common

In 2015, Jones Whitsett Architects of Greenfield, in consultation with Renaissance Builders of Gill, and Robert Leet of Whetstone Engineering, designed an addition that would meet the needs of the Wendell Meetinghouse. The plan for the addition was designed to complement the historic architecture of Luke Leach’s original building and to respect the setback requirements of Wendell town zoning.

These drawings show both the elevation and the floor plan of the Meetinghouse addition we need to more fully fulfill the Friends’ mission and achieve our vision of this space as a vibrant and well-used community center.
